In the novel Of Human Bondage, the primary character, Philip Carey, has a horde of individuals whom are powerful in his life. William Somerset Maugham depicts Philip as having three ladies throughout his life that are vital to Philip’s character. These three ladies are Mildred Rogers, Norah Nesbit, and Sally Athelny.
